November 1,2008 Update
I am proud to say I just returned from Seattle, WA. where I received the International Dyslexia Society Remy Johnson award for my work with SPLAT. I feel very lucky that I was also able to bring notice to kids with dysgraphia. I am still tutoring weekly at Upward Bound in Santa Monica, and my volunteer Bradley Reinfeld is still giving weekly tutoring at Los Angeles Family Housing in North Hollywood. I will be bringing 3 replacement laptops to LAFH and a new printer this week, and will be giving away a laptop to a Upward Bound graduate later this month. I still have enough donated laptops but I always continue to look for more since some are older and need to be replaced and some are being given away. I have also been contacted by a third family shelter and I hope to meet with them later this month and talk about bringing SPLAT to them.
Please contact me at mguggs@gmail.com if you have any donations. don’t forget you can always learn more about me and splat by guggling michael guggenheim and pulling up my LA Times article, GMA interview or CNN interview. thank you to all my supporters.
